ATC Uganda has donated a computerized system to Liberty Medical Centre located in Kyengera. The system will help implement an Electronic Health Management System at Liberty Medical Centre and improve their medical services as they serve and support the community during this COVID 19 pandemic.
In response to and following the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including maintaining social distancing, ATC Uganda is supporting Liberty Medical Centre to implement an online health management system that will prevent physical contact between Covid-19 patients and medical staff, monitor HIV patients health statuses with no physical contact through online communication.
Sheila Mugisha, the ATC Uganda Head Assets said, “As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility program, we have donated 2 computers, Wi-Fi router, and a one-year microsoft office 365 subscription to Liberty Medical Centre to establish an electronic medical record system that incorporates all patient records. The system will be linked to an online mobile application that will be accessed by patients in the community.” as she handed over the equipment to Harelimana Reonali at the Liberty Medical Centre in Kyengera.
Harelima, a Clinical Officer at Liberty Medical Centre was grateful for ATC Uganda’s support to the community and noted that; “Liberty Medical Centre is church based with the purpose to serve the Community of Kyengera and beyond, at affordable costs to enable ease of access to medical care and advice especially for the HIV patients. This gesture of kindness contributes greatly to our vision and will go a long way to enhance our operations. The online Electronic Health Management System will protect staff from close contact with patients while they communicate effectively, it will also enable scheduling appointments to avoid overcrowding at the clinic. Our patients will receive an SMS to advise and remind them of their medical obligations too.”
ATC Uganda supports its communities through their philanthropic arm- the American Tower Foundation; Regional philanthropic initiatives; and employee driven giving. In this case, they are keen to prevent loss of lives and curtail the transmission of COVID 19 in Uganda.
In May this year, ATC contributed to the purchase of National Testing Kit through a donation to the Uganda Virus Research Institute.
